- measure accurately and mark each siding piece
- cut on mark; snap on and nail properly; check your work
- become familiar with siding trim jargon
Five Most Important Things to Remember When doing
Vinyl Siding:
- Do NOT nail siding too tightly; each panel should
slide
- Nail in the center of nail slot
- Make certain each panel is snapped in and interlocked
with preceeding pieces
- Leave the proper gap and overlap at each trim
piece; remember contraction and expansion.
- Watch your corners

- establish "F" channel on long exterior wall
- determine size/width of first
piece of perforated soffit; cut and test sample piece
- establish cut procedure
- review ladder safety w/crew
and get safety goggles for cutting
- ensure soffit pieces are snapped together and
nailed properly
Vinyl Siding on a house
- locate vinyl electrical mount pieces where there
is protruding romex before you start
- Make sure elect. Load center panel is mounted
on side or house by electricians before you start
- install vinyl outside/insider corner trim pieces,
check installation
- Find low corner of foundation. Snap chalk line
around entire perimeter for locating aluminum starter strip.
- Oversee starter strip installation; esp. nail
spacing
- Install undersill felt on windows
- Install drip cap and "J" channel on exterior
doors
